The VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCS) is a tertiary care health system providing Urgent Care, Inpatient and Outpatient Care, Research, Domiciliary Care, Nursing Home Care, and Geriatric Care to a 45-county primary service area which spans throughout Northeastern and Central Kansas and Missouri. EKHCS consists of two divisions: the Colmery-O'Neil Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas, and the Dwight D.Eisenhower Medical Center, located in Leavenworth, Kansas, as well as multiple Community Based Outpatient Clinics across the service area.
This vacancy announcement is for one (1) position with the Behavioral Health Service of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System and will be stationed at the Topeka campus . In this role, you will function as a staff Psychologist on the Outpatient Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team.
Major duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Treating mental disorders through a variety of modalities.
Providing a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including psychological assessment.
Providing a full range of therapeutic interventions.
Performing interventions to include:Individual Psychotherapy, Group Psychotherapy, Marital and family Psychotherapy, Psycho-educational Groups, Multi-disciplinary Treatment Planning, Consultation, Patient Advocacy, VA Police Officer annual evaluations and first-hire evaluations, and Psychological Assessments.
Performing compensation and pension evaluations for adult veterans of all ages and genders.
Will use evidence based training and complete certification for those training as approved by supervisor and as applicable to PTSD population.
Will be using Prolonged Exposure THerapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy as applicable to the PTSD population; training, as needed, can be provided.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
_ U.S. citizenship _.
_Education_ : Doctoral degree from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. _ (TRANSCRIPTS SHOWING DEGREE COMPLETION MUSTBE INCLUDED IN THE APPLICATION PACKAGE) _
_Internship_ : Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by the APA. _Exceptions_ : (1) new VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable fulfillment of the internship requirement, provided that such programs we resanctioned by VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Central Office of Academic Affiliations at the time that the individual was an intern and (2) VHA facilities who offered full one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL96-151 (pre-1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement. _ PLEASE NOTE :_ Applicants who are currently enrolled in and are within eleven (11) months of completing their APA accredited internship will be considered. If selected, a tentative commitment for future employment as a graduate psychologist will be made. This tentative commitment will be made contingent upon successful completion of his/her program and successfully meeting the requirements of the qualification standard and other requirements for employment. Employment will not be offered if the selectee fails to successfully complete employment requirements or will not be available to report for duty within 15 days of completing requirements.
_ License _: Hold a full, current, unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g. Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. _ EXCEPTION: _ The Secretary may waive the requirement of licensure for an individual psychologist for a period not to exceed 2 years from the date of employment on the condition that such a psychologist provide care only under the supervision of a psychologist who is so licensed. Non-licensed psychologists who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements may be given a temporary appointment as a graduate psychologist under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 (a) (1) (D). Failure to obtain licensure during that period is justification for termination of f the temporary appointment. GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
GS-11(ENTRY LEVEL)_ -_No additional requirements beyond the basic requirements listed above.
GS-12__ -In addition to the basic requirements at the GS-11 level, at least one (1) year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level. Individuals assigned as GS-12 psychologists may be in the process of obtaining licensure at the independent practice level. If unlicensed, the individual must be supervised by a licensed psychologist and the experience ands supervision must meet the standards for psychology licensure. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of, and ability to apply, a wide range of professional psychological theories and assessment methods to a variety of patient populations.
Ability to develop coherent treatment strategies.
Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures.
GS-13(FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL)_ -_In addition to the experience requirement at the GS-12 level, at least one (1) additional year of experience as a psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of, and ability to apply, advanced psychological theories and techniques to the full range of patient populations.
Ability to provide professional advise and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health.
Knowledge of clinical research literature.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
