Media Services Coordinator Reports to:
Assistant Superintendent - Teaching & Learning Position Purpose:
To provide leadership in developing and maintaining school library media services to students and staff (including management of one to one digital devices), to facilitate the integration of the learning of information literacy skills and digital citizenship with all curriculum areas and to supervise the activities of the central media services staff.
Qualifications:
Must meet State of Kansas Board of Education licensure requirements for school library media specialist and have a Master's degree in Library Science.
The incumbent must have an understanding of general school administration, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, budget, law, and personnel.
Special areas of knowledge must include expertise in library information systems and technology.
At least five years experience in teaching, library media services and/or school administration preferable.
Knowledge/Ability/Skills:
Knowledge of the facets of planning, organizing and running school library media programs as delineated by the district and the state Knowledge of Library Media Program guidelines as delineated by the AASL The ability to keep current in educational issues as they apply to library media centers and education in general.
The ability to provide leadership for district library media specialists and others The ability to plan and expedite the creation of library media facilities Good computer technology skills Good communication and consultation skills The ability to work well with others Good organizational skills and attention to detail Physical/Emotional Requirements:

Performance
Responsibilities:
Administers the district library media program, including budget maintenance, technology support, staff development, consulting with building level staff and coordination of library media projects.
Provides leadership and guidance to the school library media staff in program planning, curriculum development, budgeting, technology use, staff development activities, and facility use.
Participates in curriculum development, budget development, technology planning, facility planning, personnel staffing, and district initiatives at the administrative level.
Coordinates the district 1 to 1 chromebook initiative, including distribution, triage, and inventory.
Manages the installation and use of the district-wide Follett Library Manager.
Facilitates the use of the district-wide Follett Resource Manager.
Supervises Central Media Services staff.
Coordinates the purchasing, cataloging, processing and distribution of materials, supplies, and equipment for the library media centers Monitors the adequacy of collections and equipment to provide data on relevance and currency.
Plans media center remodeling projects and executes those plans so that the media centers provide maximum service regardless of their physical bounds.
Facilitates effective integration of library media activities and instructional units in building level programs.
Works with the principals in selecting and evaluating library media personnel.
Assists the school library media specialists and principals in developing building level library media budgets and programs.
Arranges for building level library media specialists to evaluate new resources and digital equipment and helps implement their use.
Provides building level library media specialists with information regarding computer-based applications for library management and information access.
Evaluates the impact of library media programs at the district and school levels.
Assists principals, library media specialists, and others in applying district policies that relate to library media programs.
Advises district and school administrators and teaching staff of new developments in library media programs, technology, instructional strategies, and research.
Furnishes a wide range of information resources and services to administrative and teaching staff.
Prepares reports for district and school administrators on the impact of building level programs on the instructional process and other reports as needed.
Consults with planning committees and architects when new or remodeled facilities are designed.
Demonstrates effective instructional skills when working with students and staff.
Publicizes library media programs and services.
Seeks and administers grants from federal, state, and regional agencies and from foundations.
Participates actively in state and national professional associations and encourages a high level of participation by other district media personnel and by building level personnel.
Performs other duties as requested by immediate supervisor.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be determined in accordance with the Professional Agreement and approved by the Topeka Public Schools USD 501 Board of Education.
This is a 12 month position.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of professional staff.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
