07 an hour The City of Topeka's Legal department is seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual to serve as a Legal Specialist in the Prosecution office.
This incumbent performs a variety of specialized clerical work, including general receptionist functions of greeting office visitors and answering and directing incoming telephone calls.
Additional duties include composing and typing documents, processing court dockets, performing data entry, filing, and related legal and general administrative duties.
The ideal candidate:
Possesses knowledge of legal terminology, criminal procedures, and the court system and records retrieval.
Has excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.
Is highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Excels in both written and verbal communication.
Has a sense of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two years of clerical / administrative experience, preferably in the legal field.
Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable within the standards set by the City of Topeka's insurance carrier.
Minimum entry rate of pay:
$23.
