The Office of the State Fire Marshal has an opening for an Unclassified Deputy Boiler
inspector
. This
position
will cover the counties in Western
kansas
. The salary for this position is $20.13 per hour ($41,870.40 per year).
Within an assigned district of the state, conducts internal and external inspections of high and low pressure boilers and pressure vessels according to the codes established by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessels Inspectors and the Kansas Boiler Safety Act. Makes contact with local and state officials, contractors, installers, owners, users and others.
Employees at this level exercise minimal latitude in performing the duties of the position. Receives verbal and written instructions; follows the guidelines set forth in federal and state laws, regulations, policies and procedures and division guidelines. Receives guidance from the State Fire Marshal and Chief Boiler Inspector.
Requirements: Three years' experience in the construction, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance or
repair
of high pressure boilers and pressure vessels as a mechanical engineer, steam operating engineer, boilermaker or boiler inspector. Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a National Board Commission within one year of hire.
