Security Assistant (Police Dispatcher)

Duties include but are not limited to:
Dispatching Police officers. Monitor surveillance and alarm equipment. Answer all incoming phone calls to the medical center. Triage and prioritize calls for service. Record all incidents during tour of duty. Operate the EKHCS control board. Processing inquiries into the NCIC/FCIC, Sate of Kansas criminal Justice Information System. Perform a full range of standard and non-standard clerical and assistant tasks. Assist in developing physical security briefings, debriefings and administration of security awareness programs. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 operating a multi-line switchboard system answering calls and routing callers, providing dispatch service and support and maintaining call logs in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. OR, Education:
.Applicants may substitute four (4) years of education above high school in any field for which high school education or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite, for the experience required for the GS-05 level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical, junior college, college or university. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. To calculate, first divide the number of total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide the number of completed semester credits by 30. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05. The work is usually sedentary but may involve some standing and walking to consult directories and manuals, retrieve faxed, printouts, and other supplies. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
